Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) is one of the fully fledged Public Technical Universities located at the creek of the coastal region in Kenya. The origin of TUM can be traced back to late 1940’s then known as Mombasa Institute of Muslim Education (MIOMIE). It later changed to Mombasa Technical Institute (MTI) in 1962 and then the Mombasa Polytechnic in 1972. In line with the Kenyan Vision 2030, the Government in its strategy to increase access to University education across the country, the dream to convert Mombasa Polytechnic to a University College was realized in August 2007, and later became a fully-fledged University on 30th January 2013.
