The Legal office provides legal advice and representation to The Technical University of Mombasa, to its constituent units and affiliated entities, and to its trustees, officers, employees, and student leaders while acting on the university’s behalf. The Office is headed by the Legal officer. Our services include advice and counsel on all matters having legal significance for the university, contract review, legal workshops and educational programs. The Legal Office provides oversight on all litigation matters concerning the university.

The Legal Office seeks to advance the mission of the University by providing counsel toward sound decision-making in all areas of instruction, research and service. Through outreach, training activities and regular interaction with University administrators, faculty and staff, we strive to increase awareness of legal issues on campus in an effort to prevent problems and help clients sharpen their own objectives and strategies. The university’s legal Officer is Mrs. Serah E. Okumu, an Advocate of the High Court as well as a Commissioner for oaths with a Master of laws (LLM) degree from the University of Kwazulu Natal, South Africa and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She is a practicing advocate and a member of the Law Society of Kenya and Mombasa Law Society respectively.
